Shaun Shareef

Shaun is an accomplished finance, audit, and governance professional currently serving as the Chief Compliance Executive of Villa Group, one of the largest and most diversified business groups in the Maldives.

As a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant and Licensed Auditor under the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives, he has developed extensive expertise across internal audit, compliance, risk management, controls design, and organizational governance in both state-owned and private sector institutions.

Throughout his career, Shaun has held key leadership roles, including heading internal audit functions and advising executive management on strengthening internal controls, mitigating operational and financial risks, and elevating business performance through data-driven assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.

He is experienced in designing audit strategies, leading field-based assessments, enhancing process efficiency, and supporting digital transformation in compliance and audit operations.

Beyond his core responsibilities, Shaun is actively engaged in professional development and industry contribution, including speaking at events such as the Maldives Accountants Forum, where he shared insights on sustainability and governance in the fisheries sector.
