On 25 February 2025, IAA Maldives marked a historic milestone: the official inauguration of the association and the formal handover of responsibilities from the Interim Executive Committee to the newly elected Executive Committee.
The ceremony opened with a Qur’an recitation, followed by remarks from Hassan Akram Mohamed, Chairperson of the Interim EXCO, who traced the journey of how IAA Maldives came to be — from an idea to a fully established professional body. Chief Guest, Assistant Auditor General Ibrahim Fazeel, spoke on the crucial role internal auditors play in strengthening governance.
In the ceremony’s central moment, Mr. Hassan Akram Mohamed formally handed over responsibilities to the first elected Chairperson, Mifzal Adam, who delivered a speech on the new chapter ahead. Certificates of Recognition were awarded to the Interim EXCO in honour of the co-founders, and Certificates of Election welcomed the newly elected Executive Committee into their roles. Vice Chairperson of the Interim EXCO, Shaun Shareef, closed the ceremony with heartfelt thanks to everyone who made the journey possible.
